The following was authored by Joe Bundrant, CEO of Trident Seafoods, in recognition of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
As the nation observes Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Trident Seafoods joins communities across the United States in reflecting on the legacy of one of history’s most influential leaders. Dr. King’s enduring call for unity, justice and service continues to guide how we aspire to show up, as individuals, as neighbors and as a company committed to doing the right thing.
The time is always right to do what is right. — Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Oberlin College, 1964
This timeless message resonates deeply with our values at Trident Seafoods. As a family-owned American seafood company rooted in Alaska’s coastal communities, our success depends on trust, integrity and care. Care for our people, our oceans and the communities we serve. Dr. King’s reminder that each of us has a role in shaping a more just and compassionate world aligns with our belief that doing the right thing is a responsibility, not an option.
MLK Day of Service: Strengthening Communities Together
MLK Day is recognized nationwide as a Day of Service, encouraging individuals and organizations to transform the holiday into a moment of positive action. At Trident, we encourage our employees, partners and community members to participate and be enaged in ways that reflect their passions, not only on MLK Day, but throughout the year. From volunteering at local food banks and urban farms like in the photo below, to coastal cleanups, mentoring youth, supporting elders, or offering kindness to someone who needs it.
These small acts of service create ripple effects that strengthen the places we call home, from Alaska’s fishing villages to the Pacific Northwest and communities across the United States. When we show up for one another, we help build a culture of unity and resilience.
As a company, to maximize the impact of our community involvement efforts, we focus our time and resources on the four strategic areas listed below. You can learn more about these areas by reading our 2025-2026 Sustainability Progress Report.
