In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on Dr. King’s legacy and the values he championed - fairness, faith, compassion and unity.

Dr. King reminded us of the power of uniting behind a common cause and the importance of caring deeply for one another. His belief in doing what is right, even in the face of great adversity, continues to inspire us today.

At Trident, our values are rooted in the belief that, at our core:

  • We care for each other.

  • We pursue excellence.

  • We do the right thing.

These values have guided our actions for over 50 years. The world in general, and the seafood sector in particular, is in a state of turbulence. When times are challenging, it’s important to know what we stand for and vigorously defend our values.

...let Dr. King’s example guide us in how we work together and how we serve our communities, and let us honor his dream by helping it live on through our actions.

Taking a cue from Dr. King - there is strength in numbers. We have the greatest impact when we pull together as champions for humanity. Be it in our personal lives or as a collective that cares deeply about the Alaskan seafood industry, now is not the time to focus on what divides us. Now is the time to focus on our common interests and be change agents for the greater good.

As we enter 2025, let Dr. King’s example guide us in how we work together and how we serve our communities, and let us honor his dream by helping it live on through our actions. By uniting around shared values and supporting one another, we can accomplish meaningful change - as a company, in our personal lives and in the lives of others.
